Roz Morris and I had a lively conversation about flash fiction, screenplays, and all things writing.
We talked about the link between writing movies and flash fiction:
My flash fiction mind is rooted in my years of writing screenplays, also a form told primarily through imagery where the writer enters a scene late, leaves early, and keeps the audience in suspense.
And Roz asked me about my inspirations, which that gave me a chance to brag about some of the amazing flash fiction writers out there:
As for flash fiction, probably Meg Pokrass, Pamela Painter and Robert Scotellaro. And I never miss reading a story by Kathy Fish or Nancy Stohlman. But there is just so much flash talent out there now. Gay Degani is on fire. Cathy Ulrich, Jacqueline Doyle, Len Kuntz, brilliant. The genre has exploded since I started back in 2010. I learn from everyone.
